NMRA/NMCA Superbowl Of Drag Racing Leads To Yet Another EFI Renegade Victory For Vortech Superchargers…

The NMRA/NMCA Superbowl of Street Legal Drag Racing is a hotly contested and much anticipated event every year, bringing the best cars and race teams from all over the country to test their mettle against the rest, and many Vortech racers came out to do their thing.

In NMCA Vortech Superchargers Extreme Street, 3 Vortech powered competitors brought it hard. Bob Kurgan’s Xi-Trim blown Mustang qualified 4th place, rocketing to an 8.13 ET. Vortech racers Bob Curran and Carlo Catalanotto both suffered mechanical setbacks due to them both still shaking the kinks out of their new combos. Look for them both to be gunning for the top once they are all sorted out. Unfortunately, although Bob was on a good run, he lost out in the Semis to the #1 qualifier in an intense race that saw Bob drilling an 0.009 light.

NMRA Real Street saw great performances from Vortech powered entrants Craig Baldwin and Kevin Scott, and also from the team of Dan Baumann & “Uncle” Robin Lawrence, who were flying the banner of our sister company Paxton with their NOVI powered Mustang. Despite the valiant efforts of all 3, Bruce Hemminger’s Nitrous powered car took the victory. Look for these Vortech & Paxton blown cars to come back shooting for the top at future events.

In NMRA Drag Radial action, our man Adam Jude was hoping for a repeat Superbowl Drag Radial victory, but took himself out of the running with a self inflicted red light in the 2nd round of eliminations. Keep your chin up Adam, you’ll get ’em next time!

In NMRA EFI Renegade, the Vortech victory was already assured before the racing even begun, as every single competitor in the class were running the seemingly untouchable V-7 YSi-Trim. Competitors for the Superbowl title included Brian Mitchell, Chad Almandinger, Bob Cook, Mike Catapano, George Seeger, and Chris Van Gilder. When the smoke had cleared, a very consistent string of 8.40/8.50 passes secured the win for #1 qualifier Bob Cook, with long time Vortech supporter Chad Almandinger posting the runner up spot. Congrats to Bob, Chad, and their respective crews!
