Highlights and info from this weekend’s NMCA event at MIR (Maryland International Raceway) from the NMCA website:
“CFE Xtreme Street saw Bob Kurgan take the number one spot with an 7.87. He made it to the finals, but it was the defending champ Jamie Stanton who was able to prevail. After beating John Warren in the first round, Stanton had a bye into the semis where he won against Phil Smith. In the finals Stanton faced Kurgan and when the lights dropped, Kurgan reacted first, but appeared to have some mechanical issues and had to give the win to Stanton, who ran an 8.12.” Kurgan is still the current points leader for the season, and set the record for the quickest pass ever in Xtreme Street history with a 7.84 in his Vortech V-24 Xi-Trim Supercharged Mustang.
“Andy Manson was the man to beat in ATI Performance Products 275 Drag Radial with his V-24 Xi-Trim Supercharged platform during qualifying, running a string of incredible 7.5X passes to take the top qualifying spot. He advanced over a broken Eric Ken ward in the first, had a bye into the finals, and beat the drag radial stalwart Jason Lee in an incredible final match, Manson reacted with a .063 as Lee cut a .062. Both cars ran 7.59, but Manson was a mere .014 quicker.”
